According to a report by Football London on Monday, November 2, 2026, Morgan Rogers and Cole Palmer both found the net during Chelsea's victory over Manchester United at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, sparking debate over which midfielder will finish the season with more goals and assists.
Rogers opened the scoring with an impressive solo run before calmly finding the back of the net. The England international had previously disclosed that Joao Pedro encouraged him to practise chip finishes during training, a technique that proved useful against United.
Palmer later converted a penalty to help Chelsea secure the victory, despite Manchester United goalkeeper Senne Lammens getting both hands to his effort. Both midfielders now have six Premier League goal contributions.
However, Rogers currently holds a slight advantage across all competitions, having recorded six goals and four assists in 12 appearances. His 10 contributions already match Mason Mount's entire tally at Manchester United, which took the midfielder 80 appearances to achieve.
In the Premier League, Rogers has scored five goals and provided one assist in nine appearances, while Palmer has registered three goals and three assists.
Ahead of Chelsea's upcoming fixture against Sunderland, Rogers was asked about the friendly competition between the two players. The question was: “Nothing like a bit of friendly competition. Who is winning at the end of the season?”
Responding to the Premier League's social media account, Rogers said: “I don't know \[chuckling\]. I don't mind as long as we are winning games, to be honest. I don't think it's something we're really focused on, but I'll take it.”
Both players have accumulated approximately 790 to 800 Premier League minutes, with their statistical performances remaining closely matched. Rogers has a slight advantage in expected goals with 2.41 against Palmer's 2.40, while his expected assists stand at 1.44 compared to Palmer's 1.07.
Nevertheless, Palmer has created more chances, registering 20 compared to Rogers' 17, and six big chances against Rogers' two. His penalty-taking responsibilities could also give him the advantage in the race.
