Harry Kane Wins Second European Golden Shoe After 73-Goal Season

Harry Kane wins second European Golden Shoe, after a record-breaking 2025-26 season.

Harry Kane has won the European Golden Shoe for the 2025-26 season which is the top scorer in the continent's home leagues. It is the second time the Bayern Munich striker and England captain has won the award.

Kane's 36 Bundesliga goals and 72 points in the Golden Shoe table were better than Manchester City's Erling Haaland and Real Madrid's Kylian Mbappé. He had 61 goals in 51 matches for Bayern in all competitions. Adding his goals for England, England Football says he scored 73 times in the season, 12 of them for his country.

There were even more highlights at the 2026 World Cup this summer. Kane passed Gary Lineker’s total of 10 to become England’s all-time top World Cup scorer, and now has 14 career World Cup goals, six of them at this tournament. England finished third after beating France 6-4 in the third-place match to their record, their best World Cup finish since winning the trophy in 1966. France's Mbappé picked up the Golden Boot for the tournament with 10 goals scored.

Kane also had trophies to come home with at the end of the season. Bayern captured the Bundesliga and the DFB-Pokal and Kane netted a hat trick in the cup final. Having won no major team trophies in years, his career was bookmarked by the ones he hadn't captured until the Bundesliga title he picked up for Bayern in 2024-25. He now has two league honours in Germany. In his first season in Munich (2023-24), he won his first Golden Shoe.

Kane, now 33, has a Bayern contract that runs until June 2027. He announced in August that negotiations for an extension had started and it is thought a deal is in the works to 2029, albeit not officially.

The season isn't over for Kane. He won the Ballon d'Or in London on 26 October in 2026 and it is reported by Yahoo Sports to be the first England player to win the trophy in 25 years.
