Real Madrid have reached an agreement with Jude Bellingham on a five-year extension that would keep the midfielder at the club until 30 June 2031, Fabrizio Romano reports. The club has not yet made an official announcement, so formal confirmation remains the next step.

The agreement would extend Bellingham’s existing commitment by two seasons. It also represents a long-term decision on one of Madrid’s central midfielders and a growing presence in the dressing room.

The new terms extend Bellingham’s Madrid stay

Bellingham joined Real Madrid from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2023, signing a contract that was due to run until June 2029. The reported extension moves that expiry date to 30 June 2031, adding two years to his previous deal.

The new agreement includes an improved wage package, according to the account of the deal published by Goal, which attributes the contract details to Diario AS. Those reports also say discussions began towards the end of last season and progressed without major difficulty.

Madrid have also moved to secure other young midfielders on longer contracts, including Arda Güler and Aurélien Tchouaméni. Bellingham’s reported extension would further strengthen that continuity in the centre of the team.

Bellingham’s role extends beyond his goals

Madrid’s report describes Bellingham as a key midfielder and a leader in the dressing room. It says he has returned to the level he showed in his first season in Spain after physical problems affected his performances, while continuing to contribute in both phases of play.

Under José Mourinho, Bellingham has been given freedom to operate behind Kylian Mbappé, according to the same report. His work is not limited to attacking: he is also cited for initiating the press and contributing defensively. The report puts his league return this campaign at three goals and three assists.

His position and responsibilities under Mourinho have been part of the discussion around his development at Madrid. The midfielder’s freedom in Mourinho’s system is relevant context for a renewal that would keep him at the club through the end of the decade.

Official confirmation is still pending

The reports describe an agreement, not a completed public announcement from Real Madrid. The distinction matters: while the terms and end date have been reported, the club has yet to formally confirm the extension.

Once Madrid announces the deal, Bellingham’s new contract would run until 30 June 2031. Until then, the club’s confirmation remains the outstanding milestone in a renewal that would add two seasons to his current agreement.
