Tottenham set their sights on another attacking midfielder with impressive versatility, as they join AC Milan in the race for Yuito Suzuki.

Tottenham Hotspur have a very fluid attack under Roberto De Zerbi, with a frontline capable of playing across multiple positions.

We have already seen the Spurs boss utilise that versatility this season, with Omar Marmoush featuring on the left at times despite being a centre-forward.

Savio also impressed when deployed on the left against Manchester United, while Mohammed Kudus, naturally a right winger, has been used in the number ten role.

Such fluidity certainly helps De Zerbi keep opposition players guessing, as Spurs can easily mix things up with the personnel available.

Tottenham eye a transfer for Freiburg’s Yuito Suzuki

According to fussball-news.de, Tottenham are understood to be in the market for another versatile attacking player.

The player in question is Freiburg’s Yuito Suzuki, who has developed into one of the most sought-after attacking talents in the Bundesliga. Spurs are not alone in monitoring him, with AC Milan and Real Sociedad also showing interest.

Scouts from these clubs have reportedly watched Suzuki live on several occasions this season, including Bundesliga matches against Werder Bremen and Eintracht Frankfurt, as well as his appearances for the Japanese national team.

Suzuki has impressed in front of goal this season having already scored four times in five appearances in the Bundesliga.

However, while Tottenham are keen, AC Milan appear to be their strongest competitor in the race for Suzuki, with the Italian giants looking to add creativity and goal threat to their attack.

Spurs are said to value his dynamism and ability to operate in different attacking positions.

Reports suggest both Tottenham and Milan are considering offers totalling around £30 million (€35 million), which could include a fixed fee of £24–26 million (€28–30 million) plus £4–6 million (€5–7 million) in performance-related bonuses.

However, Freiburg have yet to receive any formal offers, with interested clubs still in the scouting phase.

Freiburg set high price for Spurs target Suzuki

There is no pressure on Freiburg to sell Suzuki, particularly in the winter transfer window. The club’s management considers him an important part of their attack and do not want to lose him mid-season.

Freiburg are also in a strong negotiating position. According to fussball-news, Suzuki’s contract does not contain an active release clause, meaning the Bundesliga side can set their own terms for any potential sale.

Reports suggest Freiburg would demand between £34–38 million (€40–45 million) should a concrete offer be made – significantly higher than the figures currently being discussed by Milan and Tottenham.

Spurs already have depth in the positions Suzuki operates in, with Xavi Simons and Dejan Kulusevski returning, while Wilson Odobert is also close to a comeback.

It will be interesting to see how the dynamics of the squad would be affected should Tottenham complete the signing of the 24-year-old.
