Carragher says Manchester United should make move for Unai Emery

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher believes Manchester United should appoint Aston Villa manager Unai Emery as their next head coach.

Emery is currently in charge of Aston Villa, who have collected 11 points from their opening eight matches and sit ninth in the table. Manchester United, meanwhile, are 16th with seven points.

Carragher had previously called for Michael Carrick to be dismissed as Manchester United manager. The former England midfielder is currently overseeing the club’s first-team side.

Manchester United’s most recent victory came on 11 September, when they beat Sabah in the Champions League. Since then, the team managed by Carrick have gone eight matches without a win.

Carragher’s recommendation comes with Manchester United struggling near the bottom half of the table, while Emery’s Aston Villa occupy a higher position after the opening eight rounds of the English season.
