No. There is no public record of Asisat Oshoala speaking about a daughter. She has not named a child or confirmed one in any interview reported by serious media. This page has been rewritten to reflect that.
The story began in February 2019. A handful of blogs and forum threads shared a photo of the Super Falcons striker beside a young girl and called the girl her daughter. None of those posts carried a caption or quote from Oshoala herself. Not one. Several biography sites then repeated the claim, some adding guesses about age, religion and where the child grew up. We published guesses of that kind in an earlier version of this article, and we have removed them.
A child is entitled to privacy. Until Oshoala chooses to say something, we will not speculate.

The family story Oshoala has told in public is about her parents, not about children.
Speaking to Barcelona's club website, as AFP quoted in August 2020, she said football “caused a lot of arguments with my mother, but I got my way”. Her older brother Abdulbasit told the same agency that their parents had been against her pursuing a career in what they regarded as a man's sport, particularly because she was a girl.
They came round.
Born in Ikorodu and schooled in Lagos, she left school to chase the game, joined FC Robo in 2009 and moved on to Rivers Angels in 2013, and by the time she was collecting continental awards the arguments at home had long since turned into pride.
From Port Harcourt she went to Liverpool in 2015, then Arsenal, then Dalian Quanjian in China before Barcelona signed her in 2019. In Catalonia she won two Women's Champions League titles. In 2024 she joined Bay FC for its first NWSL season. She scored the club's first ever goal, against Angel City on 17 March 2024. Seven goals made her the team's top scorer that year.
Then came Saudi Arabia. On 2 September 2025 she joined Al Hilal on a two-year contract, Al Jazeera reported.
The full timeline is in our Asisat Oshoala biography. What she earned in the United States is in our piece on her salary at Bay FC. Her place among the national team's scorers is covered in our list of the Super Falcons' all-time top goal scorers.
Lagos is the constant. Where Oshoala has been most visible off the pitch is in grassroots football for girls in Lagos.
In November 2017 the Lagos State government backed an Asisat Oshoala and Lagos State Secondary Schools Girls Football Clinic, with sessions at Teslim Balogun Stadium and Epe Grammar School, and officials said the programme would close with the launch of her foundation. Two years later the Oshoala Football Championship opened at Campos Mini Stadium. The Guardian reported that its most valuable player would earn a football scholarship in Spain. Small steps, but real ones.
That is the record she has chosen to make public. It is the one we will keep reporting.
