Ghanaian-born Athletic Bilbao forward Iñaki Williams has established himself as one of the most prolific scorers in Basque derby history, having netted eight goals in 25 appearances against arch-rivals Real Sociedad.

The 32-year-old’s impressive record makes Real Sociedad the opponent against whom he has scored the most goals during his career, underlining his importance in one of Spanish football’s fiercest regional rivalries.

Williams currently ranks second among the highest-scoring players in Basque derbies in the 21st century, with eight goals to his name.

Real Sociedad captain Mikel Oyarzabal leads the standings with nine goals, while former Real Sociedad forward Nihat occupies third position with seven.

Former Athletic Bilbao captain Iker Muniain follows with six goals, while club legends Aritz Aduriz and Tiko have five goals each.

Williams’ achievement further highlights his consistency and longevity at Athletic Bilbao, where he has remained a key figure since breaking into the first team.

With just one goal separating him from Oyarzabal, the Ghanaian-born forward will have an opportunity to move to the top of the historical rankings in future meetings between the two Basque rivals.
