Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo leads an official fan vote organised by France Football to determine the greatest Ballon d’Or winner in history.

Voting began in early October, and fans can select their favourite from a list of 10 football legends who have won the prestigious individual award at least twice.

The organisers confirmed Ronaldo’s lead in a post on the Ballon d’Or’s official social media account.

“Cristiano Ronaldo is leading,” the post read.

“You can still vote for your B.O.A.T. and try to win 2 tickets to the 2027 ceremony!

“Choose your Ballon d’Or of all time among the players who have won the award multiple times.”

Other nominees include Argentina captain Lionel Messi, French legend Michel Platini, former England international Kevin Keegan, Brazilian striker Ronaldo Nazario, Dutch great Marco van Basten, and Johan Cruyff.

The fan poll lets supporters choose the player they consider the greatest among multiple-time Ballon d’Or winners.

Ronaldo has won the award five times, while Messi holds the record with eight titles.

The competition also offers participants the chance to win two tickets to the 2027 Ballon d’Or ceremony.
