Bayern Munich will be without Bara Sapoko Ndiaye for the coming weeks after the midfielder underwent successful surgery for appendicitis.
The international midfielder is set to miss several important fixtures, beginning with Bayern’s highly anticipated Bundesliga meeting with Borussia Dortmund in the Klassiker.
He is also expected to be unavailable for the Champions League match against Atletico Madrid, with both games forming part of a significant period in Bayern’s season.
Ndiaye’s absence is a setback for Bayern’s midfield at a crucial stage of the autumn campaign. He has been an important part of the side’s build-up and attacking play, leaving the German club without a valued option in the centre of the team.
However, there is already some encouragement over his recovery. Ndiaye and Bayern’s medical staff are targeting a return to competitive action in mid-November.
Although his absence for the domestic and European fixtures is confirmed, Ndiaye hopes to be back on the pitch soon after the international break. He would then aim to reclaim his place in the Bayern Munich squad and contribute to the club’s remaining fixtures.
