Everton fans are expecting a new striker to join the club in January after the Folarin Balogun debacle, and Nicolo Tresoldi is said to be of interest.
Everton have been linked with Tresoldi, who has made a great impression with Club Brugge since joining them in 2025.
The Toffees currently only have Thierno Barry after selling Beto on transfer deadline day, before then missing out on Balogun because the club put the player off after expressing reservations about his condition.
It is simply paramount that Everton get someone in in the next window.
Tresoldi could well be that man, and his style of play could make him a genuinely great addition.
TalkingPoints
What's your thoughts on Thierno Barry at the moment? 10 big chances missed in the PL, but six goals across all competitions. It's fair to say he divides opinion at Everton, but Dewsbury-Hall is a fan…👀
Ideally, Everton need someone with a slightly different profile to Barry, but the main thing is that the next striker to come in scores goals.
So far at Club Brugge, Tresoldi has certainly shown he can do that. He has hit 32 in 70 appearances, and also made nine assists for the club which shows a creative side.
But there are plenty of other traits to like about Tresoldi, with some that Moyes in particular will be a fan of.
As per a feature piece from Total Football Analysis in 2025, Tresoldi is ‘is a modern centre-forward who blends intelligent movement with physical presence’.
And one of his standout qualities is his work rate, with TFA saying: “One of the qualities that sets Tresoldi apart is the energy he brings without the ball. He presses intently, often being his team’s first line of pressure, forcing defenders into mistakes and disrupting the opposition’s build-up.
“This work rate isn’t just effort for the sake of it; he presses with intelligence, cutting off passing lanes and triggering the press at the right moments.”

Indeed, so far in 2026/27, according to Fotmob data, he is actually in the 87th percentile for ball recoveries.
And then of course, there is his physical presence. Tresoldi is by no means a giant, but his 6ft 1in frame allows him to be a real handful for defenders, and is said to be very handy in the air and is someone who is a ‘reliable target’ for long passes or set-piece deliveries.
So potentially Tresoldi could be quite a good fit for Everton, and while the reported £42 million valuation is quite high, the Toffees were prepared to pay that for Balogun before the move collapsed. So the money is seemingly there.
But the potentially big issue Everton may have is that Tresoldi is on record as really wanting to play for AC Milan.
The player’s father, Emanuele Tresoldi – who was a player himself – said: “He fell in love with Kaka, Inzaghi and Pato – and it was impossible to talk him out of it.
“I’m not sure he would accept that (a move to Inter). His feelings as a fan might win out. His dream is to wear the AC Milan shirt.”
| Tresoldi for Hannover | for Club Brugge | for Germany U21s |
| Appearances – 80 | Appearances – 70 | Caps – 27 |
| Goals – 14 | Goals – 32 | Goals – 16 |
| Assists – 6 | Assists – 9 | Assists – 3 |
Tresoldi grew up in Italy but has not yet played professionally there after moving to Germany when he was 13. So it might be that the lure of Milan could be problematic for Everton.
But there is the notion that Tresoldi could still make this move later in his career since he’s only 22, so it might still be worth the Toffees testing the waters.
