According to a report by Football London on Thursday, October 15, 2026, Sanchez conceded three goals during Wednesday night’s encounter, prompting criticism from supporters and raising questions about his position under manager Cesc Fabregas.
The goalkeeper joined Como from Chelsea on a season-long loan agreement that includes an option to buy after losing his place in the starting lineup under Xabi Alonso.
Sanchez had initially appeared likely to remain Chelsea’s first-choice goalkeeper. However, two costly mistakes during the club’s opening Premier League fixture against Fulham reportedly contributed to his replacement by Emi Martinez.
Since arriving in Italy, the former Brighton goalkeeper has been competing with Jean Butez for the starting role as he attempts to rebuild his reputation and establish himself in a new environment.
Como initially took the lead against Feyenoord, but the Dutch side responded strongly to claim a 3-2 victory. Sanchez was unable to stop Gjivai Zechiel from scoring the equaliser, before Anis Hadji Moussa gave Feyenoord the advantage with a low shot directed towards the near post.
The goalkeeper was also involved in an unfortunate sequence during Feyenoord’s third goal. Hadji Moussa’s long-range effort took a deflection off Jacobo Ramon, struck the post and bounced against Sanchez before crossing the goal line.
Although the final goal involved an element of bad luck, Como fans remained dissatisfied with Sanchez’s overall display and made their feelings known after the match.
One supporter described his performance as "disastrous", while another wrote: "Sanchez is one of the worst goalkeepers I’ve seen."
Several other fans questioned Fabregas’ decision to recruit the Spanish international, with some insisting that Butez should be restored to the starting lineup for upcoming matches.
The criticism places additional pressure on Sanchez as he attempts to earn the confidence of the coaching staff and supporters. His response in subsequent fixtures could prove important in determining whether he retains his position as Como’s first-choice goalkeeper.
The situation could also influence the club’s decision on whether to activate the purchase option included in his loan agreement.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are expected to monitor developments closely. A permanent transfer to Como would provide the Premier League club with an opportunity to secure Sanchez’s departure while allowing the goalkeeper to continue his career in Italian football.
For now, Sanchez must work to improve his performances and demonstrate that he can overcome the difficult start to his spell at Como.
