According to a report by Football London on Tuesday October 27, 2026, Chelsea have been urged to reject any January loan approach for Estevao Willian, with Paris Saint-Germain reportedly interested in signing the Brazilian youngster as they strengthen their attacking options for the remainder of the season.
The 19-year-old has struggled to secure a regular starting position under Xabi Alonso, failing to start a Premier League match this season. His position has become increasingly complicated, with Geovany Quenda reportedly moving ahead of him in the pecking order.
Transfer reporter Ekrem Konur claims PSG have identified Estevao as a potential target, with manager Luis Enrique and sporting adviser Luis Campos reportedly impressed by his ability and long-term potential.
PSG's attacking situation could create opportunities for the Chelsea youngster, particularly following Khvicha Kvaratskhelia's knee surgery and concerns surrounding Ousmane Dembele's fitness. However, Chelsea have several reasons to retain their promising attacker.
Firstly, Chelsea face a demanding schedule across January and February, with numerous Premier League fixtures and domestic cup commitments. Estevao could provide valuable rotation, allowing Alonso to rest his established attackers while maintaining creativity in the final third.
Secondly, the Brazilian could become an important alternative if Cole Palmer suffers another injury. Palmer has previously experienced groin problems, making reliable attacking cover essential as Chelsea compete across multiple competitions.
Alonso frequently deploys Palmer and Morgan Rogers in advanced midfield positions behind Joao Pedro. Estevao could operate in those roles, providing tactical flexibility and helping maintain the team's attacking threat whenever key players are unavailable.
Thirdly, Chelsea must carefully manage Estevao's development. Despite his considerable potential, previous hamstring injuries highlight the importance of monitoring his workload and gradually increasing his playing time rather than demanding consistent full matches.
Keeping him at Stamford Bridge would allow Chelsea to supervise his progress closely while providing opportunities to develop under Alonso. Although a loan could offer additional minutes, it would reduce the club's immediate control over his development.
Finally, Chelsea must demonstrate their commitment to Estevao's future. Allowing him to leave temporarily could raise questions about his importance within the project, potentially encouraging uncertainty about his long-term prospects.
Instead, Chelsea should establish a clear development plan, provide meaningful opportunities and reassure the youngster that he remains an important part of their future ambitions. Rejecting PSG's reported interest could ultimately benefit both the player and the club.
