According to a report by Fabrizio Romano on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, Manchester United have decided to keep Michael Carrick in charge despite recent defeats to Como and Bournemouth.

Romano reported that the club had opted to give Carrick another opportunity to turn things around as they prepare for their upcoming Premier League clash against Chelsea.

The decision comes after United suffered disappointing results against Como and Bournemouth, raising concerns about the team's performances and putting pressure on the manager.

Carrick, a former Manchester United midfielder, conducted training at the club's Carrington training ground on Tuesday as preparations continued for the weekend fixture against Chelsea.

According to Romano, the players and coaching staff are focused on delivering an improved performance following their disappointing display against Bournemouth.

The upcoming encounter at Stamford Bridge will provide Carrick with an opportunity to guide his team back to winning ways and demonstrate that the squad can respond positively to recent setbacks.

Manchester United's decision to retain Carrick suggests the club are prepared to give him more time to address the team's struggles rather than immediately change the manager.

However, the pressure will remain on the former midfielder to produce better results and improve the team's overall performance as the season progresses.

The Chelsea fixture could prove important for United, who will be seeking to restore confidence among their supporters after the defeats.

Carrick will also be expected to make the necessary tactical adjustments to help the team avoid further setbacks and compete effectively against their London opponents.
