According to a report by BBC Sports on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, Arsenal striker Viktor Gyökeres delivered an outstanding performance in his team's 2-1 victory over Slavia Prague in the UEFA Champions League, contributing a goal and an assist.
The Swedish international was one of the most influential players on the pitch as Mikel Arteta's men secured an important away victory at the Fortuna Arena.
Gyökeres demonstrated his attacking quality from the opening stages of the encounter, troubling the Slavia Prague defence with his movement, strength and ability to create opportunities for his teammates.
His contribution was particularly important in the ninth minute when he provided the assist for Arsenal's opening goal. The striker produced an excellent long pass that released Noni Madueke inside the penalty area, allowing the winger to beat the goalkeeper with a well-placed finish.
The 28-year-old striker also made his mark in the 38th minute when he doubled Arsenal's advantage with a brilliant finish. After receiving a well-timed pass from Mikel Merino inside the penalty area, Gyökeres quickly controlled the ball and fired it into the right side of the net, leaving Nazar Domchak with little chance of making a save.
His goal gave Arsenal a comfortable 2-0 lead before the interval and highlighted his importance to Arteta's attacking system.
Beyond his goal and assist, Gyökeres caused constant problems for Slavia Prague's defenders through his physical presence, intelligent positioning and willingness to run into dangerous spaces.
Arsenal eventually secured a 2-1 victory despite facing considerable pressure in the second half. Wiktor Nowak scored for the hosts in the 90th minute, but the Gunners successfully protected their advantage until the final whistle.
Gyökeres' contribution was central to the result, as he directly participated in both Arsenal goals before being substituted in the 78th minute.
His performance will also provide encouragement to Arsenal supporters, particularly as the Swedish forward continues to demonstrate his ability to influence important European matches.
With a goal and an assist in the same Champions League encounter, Gyökeres had an outstanding evening in Prague and played a decisive role in ensuring Arsenal returned home with all three points.
