2026 U-17 WWC: CAF celebrates Flamingos' historic final qualification

The Confederation of African Football, CAF, has celebrated Nigeria's Flamingos victory over Brazil, DAILY POST reports.

Nigeria booked a place in the final of the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup, following a dominant 3-1 victory over Brazil on Wednesday night.

The Flamingos will be making their maiden appearance in the final of the competition.

Queen Joseph gave the Flamingos the lead with a close-range effort four minutes before the hour mark.

Enterprising winger, Awawu Bashiru then scored two sublime goals in the 71st and 80th minutes to put the game beyond the Seleção.

Greise Kelly reduced the deficit with a late header, but it was too little, too late for last year's fourth-placed side.

CAF took to its official X account to celebrate the Flamingos' feat.

"AFRICA, MAKE SOME NOISE! THE FLAMINGOS ARE WORLD CUP FINALISTS!," reads the short statement.

Nigeria will face Japan in the final at the Mohammed VI Football Complex, Pitch 3, Rabat, on Saturday night.
