Barcelona defender Eric Garcia has expressed his disappointment after sustaining a muscle injury that is expected to sideline him for three to four weeks, potentially forcing him to miss several important matches.
According to a report by Barca Universal on Monday, October 19, 2026, the 25-year-old suffered the setback during Barcelona’s 5-2 victory over Real Betis. Although the defender enjoyed an impressive afternoon by scoring his first goal of the season, his performance ended painfully when he was forced off in the 90th minute.
Medical examinations subsequently confirmed that Garcia had sustained a muscle injury to the rectus femoris in his right thigh. His expected recovery period could prevent him from featuring in several upcoming fixtures as Barcelona prepare for a demanding stretch of their campaign.
Among the matches he is expected to miss are encounters against Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid. The injury could also rule him out of games against Alaves, Aston Villa and Atletico Madrid, leaving Barcelona with another selection concern during a busy period.
Garcia took to social media to address the setback, acknowledging his frustration at being unable to help his teammates in the upcoming fixtures. Despite his disappointment, the defender expressed his determination to work hard during rehabilitation and return to action as quickly as possible.
“It frustrates and saddens me not to be able to be there, but I’ll work as hard as I can to get back as soon as possible. “Thank you for your support, Culés. See you soon! Força Barça always,” he added.
The injury came after Garcia delivered an encouraging contribution against Real Betis. He was introduced at half-time, replacing Gerard Martin, and subsequently scored Barcelona’s fourth goal in their convincing away victory.
The strike represented his first goal of the campaign and provided a memorable moment during an otherwise successful afternoon for the Catalan side. However, the positive occasion was overshadowed by the injury that forced him to leave the pitch late in the match.
Garcia’s absence is likely to create an additional challenge for Barcelona as they navigate a demanding run of fixtures. Missing the meeting with Paris Saint-Germain and the highly anticipated El Clasico against Real Madrid will be particularly frustrating for the defender.
Barcelona will now focus on managing his recovery and rehabilitation carefully, hoping he can regain full fitness and return to the squad without further complications. His progress over the coming weeks will determine when he can resume competitive action.
