Liverpool are reportedly weighing up a €100 million move for Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde as they consider strengthening their midfield ahead of a potential transfer battle with the Spanish giants.
According to a report by Madrid Universal on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, the Uruguayan international has emerged as a target for the Premier League club, although Real Madrid are reluctant to lose one of their most important players.
Liverpool's interest in Valverde is believed to be connected to the uncertainty surrounding Alexis Mac Allister's future at Anfield. The Argentine midfielder has been linked with a possible move to Real Madrid, and his potential departure could leave Liverpool searching for a quality replacement capable of maintaining the strength and energy of their midfield.
Valverde has reportedly been identified as an attractive option because of his versatility, impressive work rate and experience at the highest level. Although he has recently been deployed in defence at the Santiago Bernabeu, Liverpool remain impressed by his ability to control games from midfield and contribute in several positions.
The report claims Liverpool are considering an offer in the region of €100 million as they look to test Real Madrid's determination to keep the 27-year-old. However, completing a deal is expected to be extremely difficult.
Valverde's responsibilities at Real Madrid have evolved under head coach Jose Mourinho, who has increasingly relied on him as his preferred right-back. The Portuguese manager values his physical qualities, tireless work rate and ability to support attacking movements from the defensive position.
Despite his recent deployment in defence, Valverde has not lost his importance to the team. His ability to operate in different positions makes him a valuable option for Mourinho, while he remains capable of returning to his natural midfield role whenever the situation demands it.
Real Madrid regard the Uruguayan as an important part of their sporting project and have no intention of allowing him to leave. His leadership qualities, consistency and tactical flexibility have further strengthened his position within the squad.
Consequently, even if Liverpool decide to make a substantial financial offer, Real Madrid are expected to stand firm and reject any attempt to prise their captain away from the Santiago Bernabeu.
