According to a report by Sky Sports on October 25, 2026, the Premier League table experienced significant changes following Manchester United’s disappointing 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth and Liverpool’s impressive 2-0 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion.
Manchester United endured another difficult afternoon at Old Trafford as Bournemouth secured all three points through goals from Rayan, Marcus Tavernier and Evanilson. The result extended United’s alarming winless run and increased the pressure on manager Michael Carrick, whose side continued to struggle for consistency.
The defeat left Manchester United in 16th place with just seven points from eight league matches. United’s position near the bottom of the table will concern supporters, particularly given the club’s ambitions of competing for European qualification. Their latest performance also raised further questions about the team’s defensive organisation and ability to respond when faced with difficult situations.
Bournemouth, meanwhile, enjoyed a significant boost from their victory. The Cherries demonstrated their attacking quality at Old Trafford, punishing United’s defensive mistakes and securing a valuable result away from home. Their three-goal performance also strengthened their position in the middle section of the table.
Liverpool were among the biggest winners of the day after recording a convincing 2-0 victory over Brighton at Anfield. The Reds made an excellent start, with Florian Wirtz involved in the opening goal, which was credited as a Pascal Gross own goal, before Alexander Isak added the second.
The victory moved Liverpool up to fourth place with 15 points, strengthening their position in the race for Champions League qualification. After producing an effective attacking display and keeping a clean sheet, Liverpool will hope to build on the result as they look to close the gap on the teams above them.
Brighton remained third with 16 points despite suffering their first defeat in this particular run of matches. The result left them just one point ahead of Liverpool, meaning the battle for a place among the league’s leading sides remains extremely competitive.
Elsewhere, Newcastle United defeated Crystal Palace 2-0, collecting three important points and dealing another setback to Palace. Hull City and Brentford also shared the points after playing out a 1-1 draw.
At the top of the table, Manchester City and Arsenal remained level on 21 points, with City ahead on goal difference. Both sides will be aware that maintaining consistency could prove decisive as the campaign progresses.
