According to a report by Football London on Monday, November 2, 2026, Chelsea are exploring potential moves for players from Premier League rivals as they prepare to strengthen their squad during the January transfer window, with Arsenal youngster Myles Lewis-Skelly reportedly among their targets.
The Blues have already expressed interest in Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott after making an unsuccessful attempt to sign him during the summer transfer window. Chelsea remain determined to improve their midfield options following Enzo Fernandez's departure, keeping the England international on their shortlist.
However, their recruitment plans could go beyond Bournemouth, with reports indicating that Chelsea are also monitoring Lewis-Skelly's situation. The versatile Arsenal youngster was previously linked with a possible move to Stamford Bridge during the last transfer window.
Journalist Simon Phillips, speaking on Si Phillips Talks Chelsea, revealed that the Blues are interested in the England international and are keeping a close eye on his situation ahead of January. His ability to perform in different positions is believed to be an attractive quality for Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso.
Lewis-Skelly can operate both in midfield and at left-back, giving Chelsea additional options in areas where they have encountered difficulties this season. His versatility could provide Alonso with greater tactical flexibility while increasing competition for places within the squad.
However, convincing Arsenal to part ways with the youngster could be a difficult task. The Gunners are challenging for the Premier League title, and manager Mikel Arteta is unlikely to sanction the departure of an important young player halfway through the season.
Lewis-Skelly's ability to cover several positions could prove particularly important as Arsenal continue to deal with a demanding fixture schedule. Allowing him to leave in January would potentially limit Arteta's options, especially if injuries or suspensions affect the availability of other players.
Chelsea's reported interest highlights their intention to recruit young and versatile footballers who are already familiar with the demands of the Premier League. Nevertheless, if Arsenal refuse to consider an offer, the Blues may have to turn their attention to other targets.
Although Lewis-Skelly could help address Chelsea's midfield and defensive concerns, completing a deal during the January transfer window appears unlikely. Alonso's side may eventually need to consider alternative versatile players from the Premier League as they look to strengthen their squad.
