Barcelona Midfielder Determined to Stay and Fight for Place as Agent Meets Deco

Barcelona midfielder Dani Olmo is reportedly determined to remain at the club despite interest from Bayern Munich, with the Spain international focused on earning a more influential role under manager Hansi Flick.

According to a report by Barca Universal on Friday, October 16, 2026, Olmo’s agent, Juanma Lopez, recently held discussions with Barcelona sporting director Deco to address the midfielder’s situation and clarify his future at the Catalan club.

The meeting reportedly took place in Barcelona on Thursday, with both parties said to have engaged in constructive talks. The discussions were intended to address concerns surrounding Olmo’s playing time and prevent speculation about a possible transfer from creating unnecessary uncertainty.

Bayern Munich are understood to have maintained an interest in the attacking midfielder for some time. However, there are currently no negotiations underway, and Barcelona are reportedly confident that the player will remain at the club.

The Spanish giants would also demand a significant financial offer before considering any proposal for his departure, making a potential transfer difficult to arrange.

Olmo, for his part, has no desire to abandon his ambitions at Barcelona. Having developed at La Masia before leaving the academy at a young age, the midfielder always hoped to return to his boyhood club. He eventually achieved that goal, with Deco playing an important role in bringing him back.

After waiting years for the opportunity to represent Barcelona again, Olmo is reluctant to give up on his ambitions without a fight. Instead, he wants to establish himself as a regular starter and demonstrate his value to Flick’s squad.

The midfielder would reportedly have preferred more playing time during the opening stages of the season. Nevertheless, he remains committed to improving his performances and taking advantage of opportunities to strengthen his position within the team.

The meeting with Deco also allowed both sides to discuss Olmo’s contributions so far and his prospects for the remainder of the campaign. Barcelona’s sporting department reportedly reaffirmed its belief in his ability and the role he can play in the team’s plans.

The club has encouraged the 28-year-old to remain patient, with further opportunities expected as the season progresses. The discussions appear to have eased concerns about his future and reinforced the understanding between the player’s representatives and the club.

For now, Barcelona have no intention of selling Olmo, while the midfielder remains focused on securing a more prominent place in Flick’s plans rather than pursuing a move elsewhere.
