Chelsea have invested more than €2 billion in player transfers since Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital took control of the club in 2022, with their net spending reaching approximately €700 million.
According to a report by FootballTransfers on Saturday, October 17, 2026, Chelsea have spent €2.07 billion on new players under the BlueCo ownership group while generating €1.37 billion from player sales.
The figures underline the enormous financial commitment made by the club’s owners in their attempt to build a squad capable of competing for major trophies. However, despite the heavy investment, Chelsea’s spending has not consistently delivered the desired domestic success.
Raheem Sterling was the first major signing of the Boehly era, joining from Manchester City for €56.2 million in 2022. Other notable arrivals during the same summer included Kalidou Koulibaly, Marc Cucurella, Wesley Fofana and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Chelsea’s recruitment drive intensified in the following transfer windows, with Enzo Fernandez and Mykhailo Mudryk arriving in January 2023. Moises Caicedo, Romeo Lavia and Christopher Nkunku subsequently joined as the club continued to reshape its squad.
The spending continued through 2024 and 2025, with Pedro Neto, Joao Felix, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Joao Pedro, Alejandro Garnacho and Jamie Gittens among the players brought to Stamford Bridge.
According to the report, Chelsea’s biggest spending season was 2022-23, when they invested €612.4 million in new signings. Their expenditure reached €468.8 million in 2023-24 before dropping to €276 million in 2024-25 and rising to €339.1 million in 2025-26.
The club have reportedly spent a further €407.5 million during the 2026-27 campaign, demonstrating that their recruitment strategy remains ambitious.
Morgan Rogers is now Chelsea’s most expensive signing under BlueCo after completing a reported €138 million transfer from Aston Villa in 2026.
Fernandez occupies second place on the list, having joined from Benfica for €121 million in January 2023. Caicedo ranks third following his €116 million move from Brighton and Hove Albion later that year.
On the sales side, Kai Havertz remains the most expensive departure under the current ownership group. The German forward joined Arsenal for €75 million in 2023.
Mason Mount’s €64.2 million transfer to Manchester United ranks second, while Noni Madueke’s €56 million departure completes the top three.
Chelsea’s transfer figures illustrate the scale of the club’s squad-building project since the change in ownership. With billions invested in recruitment and further spending reported for the current season, attention will continue to focus on whether the club can turn its financial commitment into sustained success on the pitch.
