Arsenal Tipped For Premier League Title Success As Main Rivals Face Fresh Questions

Arsenal have been backed to retain the Premier League title after their impressive victory over Liverpool, with Football London reporters Tom Canton and John Cross identifying the teams capable of challenging Mikel Arteta's side this season.

According to a report by Football London on Tuesday, 3 November 2026, the journalists discussed Arsenal's title prospects on the latest episode of the Seeing Red podcast following the Gunners' 1-0 victory at Anfield.

Kai Havertz scored the decisive goal in the 16th minute, securing Arsenal's first Premier League victory at Liverpool's home ground since 2012.

The result moved the defending champions three points clear at the top of the table and left Liverpool nine points behind them. Arsenal have also recorded eight victories in their opening nine league matches, strengthening their position as title favourites.

Canton questioned which teams could realistically challenge Arteta's side, particularly with Liverpool struggling to maintain consistency and Manchester City facing uncertainty surrounding their ongoing financial case.

Cross acknowledged Arsenal's impressive defensive record, highlighting their six clean sheets in the first nine league matches.

"They do look unbeatable!" Canton said during the discussion.

Cross, however, jokingly warned against getting carried away, suggesting Arsenal could suffer a difficult run of results.

The discussion also focused on Chelsea and Brighton as potential challengers. Cross believes both clubs have qualities that could make them competitive, although he identified some weaknesses in their squads.

He suggested Brighton could struggle to balance their domestic commitments with European football, while Chelsea have the advantage of playing just once a week.

Cross also pointed to Chelsea's midfield depth, defensive problems and goalkeeping situation as areas that could affect their ambitions.

However, he believes the Blues could become a serious threat when their attacking players are available together.

Regarding Bournemouth, Cross praised their performances but dismissed the possibility of them mounting a sustained title challenge.

The reporters also discussed Manchester City's situation, with Cross suggesting the uncertainty surrounding the club's financial case could affect the players psychologically.

He questioned whether the unresolved proceedings and potential punishment could influence City's approach to important matches, particularly their upcoming meeting with Arsenal.

Ultimately, Cross believes the Premier League title is Arsenal's to lose, although Manchester City remain a significant threat.

With Chelsea and Brighton also showing promise, Arteta's side must maintain their consistency if they are to become the first Arsenal team since the 1930s to win consecutive league titles.
