Match Review As Real Madrid End Barcelona’s Camp Nou Winning Streak with First Win Since 2023

According to a report by BBC Sport on Sunday, October 25, 2026, both teams produced an exciting contest filled with attacking opportunities, impressive goalkeeping and late drama. Barcelona started brightly, controlling possession and creating chances through Anthony Gordon, Raphinha and Fermin. However, Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin made several important saves to keep his side in the game during the opening minutes.

As the match progressed, Madrid became more dangerous, with Arda Guler and Yan Diomande testing Barcelona’s defensive organisation. Their growing pressure eventually paid off in the 41st minute when Kylian Mbappe reacted quickly to a loose ball inside the penalty area and fired Madrid into the lead.

Barcelona attempted to equalise before the interval, but Lunin denied efforts from Gordon and Rodri. Lamine Yamal also failed to capitalise on a promising opportunity from close range, while Diomande missed a chance to extend Madrid’s advantage at the other end.

The second half continued with Barcelona pushing forward in search of a response. Their persistence finally produced a breakthrough in the 61st minute when Raphinha received a pass from Pedri, moved inside his marker and delivered an excellent finish to make it 1-1.

The equaliser gave Barcelona renewed confidence, prompting further attacks involving Yamal, Gerard Martin and Frenkie de Jong. Nevertheless, Madrid remained organised defensively, with Lunin producing another outstanding save to prevent Gerard Martin’s powerful header from finding the net.

Madrid also threatened on the counterattack, as Guler forced another save with an attempt from outside the penalty area. Despite Barcelona’s continued possession and pressure, the hosts struggled to create the decisive opportunity needed to take the lead.

The crucial moment arrived in the 87th minute when Mbappe scored his second goal of the evening. Eduardo Camavinga provided the assist, allowing the French striker to finish from close range and put Madrid ahead once again.

Barcelona launched a desperate search for another equaliser during eight minutes of stoppage time, but Madrid successfully protected their advantage. The final whistle confirmed a memorable victory for the visitors, ending Barcelona’s impressive home league run and strengthening Madrid’s position following a fiercely contested El Clasico.
