According to a report by The Chelsea Chronicles on Friday, October 23, 2026, Moises Caicedo is expected to be one of Chelsea’s biggest weapons when the Blues host Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, with the midfielder having an exceptional record against their London rivals.
The Ecuadorian has recently returned from injury and has quickly made his presence felt in Chelsea’s midfield. His recovery is a welcome boost for manager Xabi Alonso as the club prepares for an important Premier League derby.
Chelsea’s defensive improvement has been noticeable since Caicedo returned, with the team conceding only twice in the two matches he has started. The Blues also kept a clean sheet against Everton last weekend, ending a nine-month wait for a shutout.
Since arriving from Brighton in 2023, Caicedo has faced Tottenham on six occasions and emerged victorious in every meeting. That impressive run makes him a significant threat to Spurs ahead of Saturday’s encounter.
One of his earliest successes came during the 2023/24 season, when Chelsea secured a memorable 4-1 victory over Tottenham away from home. Caicedo thought he had found the net during the match, but his effort was ruled out before his teammates completed an emphatic comeback.
Tottenham’s afternoon became even more difficult after they received two red cards, allowing Chelsea to exploit their numerical advantage and claim an important derby victory.
Caicedo was also influential in Chelsea’s entertaining 4-3 win over Spurs during the 2024/25 campaign, despite being deployed at right-back. His performance highlighted his ability to adapt to different positions while maintaining his defensive effectiveness.
According to Sofascore statistics, the midfielder won both of his attempted tackles, recorded two interceptions and made one clearance. He also prevailed in five ground duels and two aerial battles without allowing an opponent to dribble past him.
His contribution was not limited to defensive duties. Caicedo completed 44 of his 49 passes, registering a 90 per cent accuracy rate, while also successfully executing his attempted cross and dribble.
With his defensive awareness, passing ability and versatility, Caicedo remains an important figure in Alonso’s team. Tottenham will therefore need to find a way to limit his influence if they are to end his perfect record against them when the two sides meet on Saturday.
