BBC Sport reported on Sunday, October 18, 2026, that Manchester United Women claimed a 3-1 win against Charlton Athletic Women, thanks to a dominant first-half display that established a two-goal advantage.
United's victory was secured by goals from Ella Toone, Andrea Medina and Julia Zigiotti Olme, while Leah Davidson found the net for Charlton during the opening 13 minutes.
The visitors began the match on the front foot and opened the scoring in the sixth minute. Toone picked up the ball on the left side of the penalty area, created room for herself and struck a superb right-footed effort into the top-right corner.
Manchester United increased their lead in the 10th minute through Medina. Lundkvist delivered a well-placed cross into the penalty area, and Medina converted it with a right-footed finish from the centre of the box to give her team a 2-0 advantage.
Charlton quickly responded by reducing the deficit three minutes later. Hutton provided the pass for Davidson, who beat the goalkeeper with a left-footed shot into the bottom-left corner to bring the score to 2-1.
Despite Charlton's response, United remained dangerous going forward. Zigiotti Olme came close to restoring their two-goal lead in the 15th minute, only for her effort from a corner to hit the crossbar. Terland also threatened during the same spell, but her attempt was blocked.
The visitors eventually extended their advantage again in the 31st minute. Zigiotti Olme received a pass from Park and calmly finished with her right foot, placing the ball into the bottom-left corner to make it 3-1.
Charlton put up a stronger defensive performance in the second half, largely thanks to goalkeeper Whitehouse, who produced several impressive saves. She kept out Terland's effort in the 64th minute after previously denying Janssen with a long-range attempt. In the 65th minute, Toone had an opportunity to increase United's lead, but her shot from the left side of the box went just wide.
United made two substitutions in the 69th minute, bringing on Schüller and Awujo to help manage the game during the closing stages. Schüller almost scored shortly after entering the pitch, but her left-footed shot struck the right-hand post in the 77th minute following Park's assist.
As the final minutes approached, both teams continued looking for opportunities to score, but neither could add to the tally. Manchester United held on to their advantage to secure a 3-1 victory, with their clinical finishing in the first half proving decisive.
