According to a report by daily post Nigeria on Sunday October 18, 2026, Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has praised Lamine Yamal after the winger delivered an impressive performance in the club’s 5-2 victory over Real Betis in LaLiga on Saturday.

Yamal contributed a goal and an assist as Barcelona secured all three points away from home. His display drew particular praise from Flick, who described the young winger as the best player in the world at the moment.

Speaking after the match, Flick said: “Lamine Yamal is the best player in the world at the moment.” The Barcelona manager also revealed what he told Yamal when the player was substituted.

“When I subbed him off, I told him I’m proud of him. He is fantastic,” Flick said, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Yamal’s goal and assist helped Barcelona maintain their momentum in the league, while his overall performance underlined the influence he has on the team’s attack.

Flick’s comments reflect the confidence he has in the winger and the impact Yamal is making for Barcelona.

The victory over Betis also gives the Catalan side a positive result to build on as they turn their attention to European competition. Barcelona are set to face Paris Saint-Germain in their next match, a Champions League fixture scheduled for Tuesday.

That upcoming encounter will provide another major test for Flick’s side. With Yamal in strong form, Barcelona will hope the winger can once again make a decisive contribution.

Flick’s praise has placed the spotlight on the young star, but the team’s focus will now be on preparing for the challenge ahead.

Barcelona’s win over Betis offered a successful start to a demanding stretch of fixtures. The club will look to carry that confidence into the PSG match as they continue their Champions League campaign.
