According to a report by TeamTalk on Friday, October 30, 2026, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly monitoring Estevao Willian's situation at Chelsea. However, manager Xabi Alonso has responded to the speculation surrounding the Brazilian winger's future, making the club's position on a possible January loan move clear.
Despite continuing to represent Brazil at international level, the 19-year-old has endured a difficult campaign at Stamford Bridge due to his limited playing opportunities. He is yet to start a single Premier League match this season.
Estevao has been handed just one starting opportunity, which came in the League Cup, raising questions about his role in Chelsea's squad and whether a temporary move elsewhere could help accelerate his development.
The youngster had opportunities to feature following recent injury problems involving Joao Pedro and Cole Palmer. However, Alonso opted to select other players, leaving the Brazilian on the substitutes' bench.
Earlier reports from France suggested that Chelsea could consider allowing Estevao to leave on loan in January, although the club would reportedly impose strict conditions. These included a short-term agreement without a permanent purchase option and a requirement for the interested club to cover his full wages.
Chelsea were also reportedly keen to receive assurances that the youngster would enjoy sufficient playing time at his potential destination to support his development.
Following Khvicha Kvaratskhelia's season-ending anterior cruciate ligament injury, Paris Saint-Germain were reportedly considering a move for the Brazilian winger. Spanish publication Sport has also claimed that Barcelona are interested in securing his services on a temporary basis.
However, Alonso has dismissed suggestions that Estevao is close to leaving Chelsea on loan, insisting that no discussions regarding such a move have taken place.
The Spanish manager praised the teenager's professionalism, attitude and commitment, making it clear that his lack of playing time is not connected to any disciplinary or behavioural concerns. He also highlighted the importance of allowing the youngster to regain his rhythm following a hamstring injury.
Alonso remains convinced that Estevao has the quality to make a major contribution to Chelsea and believes there is still plenty of time for him to establish himself, given that the season is only in its early stages.
The Chelsea boss also accepted responsibility for his team selection decisions, explaining that every player must remain prepared to take advantage of opportunities when they arise. He acknowledged that limited playing time can naturally lead to frustration among players.
Furthermore, Alonso revealed that he maintains regular communication with Estevao, discussing his development and explaining the reasons behind his decisions to leave him out of certain matches.
Despite reported interest from Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, Estevao currently appears likely to remain at Stamford Bridge rather than pursue a January departure.
