According to a report by BBC Sport on Saturday, October 31, 2026, Atlético Madrid continued their impressive run in LaLiga after securing a deserved 2-0 victory over Levante at the Estadio Ciudad de Valencia.
Diego Simeone's men went into the encounter looking to collect all three points, and they did not disappoint as they controlled large parts of the game and made good use of their chances to secure an important away victory.
Atlético thought they had taken the lead in the 16th minute when Morten Hjulmand found the back of the net following a move created by Alejandro Baena. However, the goal was ruled out after a VAR review showed that the midfielder was in an offside position, giving Levante a chance to remain in the contest.
The visitors eventually broke the deadlock in the 36th minute through Alejandro Grimaldo, who found the net with his left foot after a mistake from Levante's Jon Olasagasti presented Atlético with the opportunity to move ahead.
Levante tried to respond before the break, but Atlético remained organised at the back and went into half-time with their narrow advantage intact.
The home side came out looking for an equaliser in the second half, but Atlético continued to threaten whenever they moved forward. Their efforts paid off again in the 62nd minute when Giuliano Simeone doubled the advantage with a left-footed finish after receiving an excellent assist from Baena.
Levante had a few opportunities to reduce the deficit, with Lee Kang-in striking the crossbar in the 55th minute, but they could not find a way past Jan Oblak. Atlético also defended well in the closing stages to protect their clean sheet.
The victory sees Simeone's side move to the top of the LaLiga table with 28 points, one point above second-placed Barcelona, while Levante remain 17th after the defeat and are now just one point above the relegation zone.
