According to a Post by Fabrizio Romano on his X account on Saturday, October 31, 2026, Manchester United forward Bryan Mbeumo has expressed disappointment following his side's 2-0 defeat to Chelsea in Saturday's Premier League encounter at Stamford Bridge, insisting that the Red Devils did several things right despite failing to secure a positive result.
United suffered another setback in their difficult campaign after Chelsea scored twice in the second half to claim all three points. The result further increased the pressure on manager Michael Carrick, with Manchester United extending their winless run in all competitions to nine matches.
Speaking to TNT Sports after the game, Mbeumo admitted that the players were unhappy with the outcome but pointed out that their first-half performance offered some encouragement, particularly in terms of the chances they created.
"We have done a lot of right things today, we are disappointed with the result," the Cameroonian international said.
Reflecting on the team's attacking display, he added that Manchester United had created several opportunities before the interval, something he considered a positive development compared with their recent performances.
"The first half we had a lot of chances, which is a positive. The last few games we didn't create a lot, but obviously they're a good team with qualities," Mbeumo told TNT Sports.
His comments reflected United's frustration after a match in which they had opportunities to take control but failed to convert their chances.
Manchester United started the contest brightly and were arguably the better side during the opening 45 minutes. Bruno Fernandes, Mbeumo and Amad Diallo all had opportunities to put the visitors ahead, while Matheus Cunha also had an effort ruled out for offside.
However, the visitors were unable to turn their attacking opportunities into goals, allowing Chelsea to grow into the contest after the break.
Chelsea eventually broke the deadlock in the 50th minute through Morgan Rogers, who produced an impressive individual run before beating United goalkeeper Senne Lammens with a composed finish.
The situation became even more difficult for Carrick's men when defender Lisandro Martínez was sent off after receiving a second yellow card for a foul on Wesley Fofana inside the penalty area.
Cole Palmer subsequently converted the resulting penalty to double Chelsea's advantage and secure the victory for the home side.
Despite falling two goals behind, Manchester United continued searching for a way back into the match. Mbeumo came particularly close to reducing the deficit in the closing stages when his powerful effort struck the crossbar following an attempt that required intervention from Chelsea goalkeeper Mike Penders.
According to match reports, United's first-half performance showed signs of improvement, but their inability to capitalise on clear opportunities ultimately proved costly.
