Ex-Man Utd teammate reveals Cristiano Ronaldo’s next move after retirement

According to a report by Daily Post Nigeria on Saturday, October 17, 2026, former Manchester United defender Danny Simpson has predicted that Cristiano Ronaldo could enjoy a successful career in football management after retiring as a player.

In an exclusive interview with GOAL, Simpson disclosed that he believes the Portuguese forward possesses the qualities needed to become an accomplished manager once he decides to end his playing career.

Simpson, who shared the pitch with Ronaldo during their time at Manchester United, highlighted the superstar's high standards, leadership abilities and strong understanding of football as qualities that could help him succeed in the dugout.

According to Simpson, Ronaldo's approach to the game and the way he communicates make him an interesting candidate for a future coaching position. He also expressed confidence in the forward's ability to develop into a top-level manager, noting that he regularly studies football and seeks ways to improve his knowledge.

Ronaldo has enjoyed an extraordinary playing career, winning five Ballon d'Or awards and establishing himself as one of the greatest footballers of his generation. However, questions about his next move have continued to emerge as speculation grows over when he might retire.

The 38-year-old has reportedly indicated that he could bring his playing career to an end at the conclusion of the season, while his contract with Al-Nassr is due to expire next summer.

Simpson's remarks have generated discussions among football supporters and pundits about whether Ronaldo could transfer his leadership qualities and winning mentality from the pitch to the touchline.

The former Manchester United defender maintained that Ronaldo's experience, tactical awareness and passion for football would give him a strong foundation for a managerial career.

He further described the Portuguese international as a determined winner and natural leader who has consistently studied the game and worked to improve his performance, qualities he believes would be valuable in coaching.

Although Ronaldo has yet to confirm whether he intends to pursue management after retirement, Simpson's endorsement has added to the growing speculation about the football icon's future beyond his playing days.
