According to a report by BBC Sport on Saturday, October 31, 2026, Wolverhampton Wanderers continued their push for promotion to the Premier League with a convincing 3-0 victory over Cardiff City in the Championship on Saturday.
The victory at Molineux Stadium moved Wolves into the Championship's top three after another important performance from Cesar Peixoto's side.
Wolves took control of the encounter early in the first half, scoring twice within the opening 15 minutes.
Fer Lopez opened the scoring in the 10th minute after connecting with Hugo Bueno's delivery into the Cardiff penalty area. The midfielder directed his header into the bottom corner to give the home side an early advantage.
Wolves doubled their lead five minutes later when Adam Armstrong headed home Rafiki Said's cross. The goal gave the hosts a comfortable position as Cardiff struggled to deal with their attacking pressure.
Cardiff attempted to respond before the break but could not find a way past Wolves goalkeeper Jose Sa.
The visitors improved after the restart and created some opportunities to reduce the deficit. However, Wolves remained organised defensively and prevented Cardiff from getting back into the contest.
The home side extended their advantage in the 58th minute through Ladislav Krejci. The defender rose highest to meet Kieran Trippier's corner and headed the ball into the net to make it 3-0.
Cardiff had opportunities to score, including a chance that fell to Joel Colwill from close range, but they failed to take advantage.
Wolves managed the remaining minutes without conceding and secured all three points in front of their supporters.
The result also extended their unbeaten run in the Championship to four matches, providing another boost to their promotion ambitions.
With this victory, Wolves have strengthened their position among the leading teams in the division as they continue their campaign for an immediate return to the Premier League.
