According to a report by Madrid Universal on Friday November 6, 2026, Real Madrid legend Karim Benzema has sent a message of support to Vinicius Junior as the Brazilian forward continues to face criticism over his recent performances.
Benzema publicly showed his backing for his former teammate by sharing a photograph of the two players together on Instagram, accompanied by the message, "N1 always".
Vinicius acknowledged the gesture by reposting the photograph and Benzema's message on his own Instagram account.
The show of support comes at a difficult period for the 26-year-old, whose performances have attracted increased scrutiny from Real Madrid supporters.
Despite the criticism, manager Jose Mourinho and the club hierarchy have continued to back the Brazilian.
Benzema and Vinicius developed a strong relationship during their time together at the Santiago Bernabeu, forming an effective attacking partnership.
The French striker also played an important role in helping Vinicius improve his game during his early years in Real Madrid's first team.
Meanwhile, Vinicius is facing increased competition for his position following the emergence of Yan Diomande.
The Brazilian's four-match LaLiga suspension has provided other attacking players with an opportunity to impress, and Diomande has taken advantage of his chances.
Real Madrid have won all three league matches played during Vinicius' domestic suspension, defeating Sevilla 4-1, Barcelona 2-1 and Racing Santander 3-0.
Diomande has also produced impressive numbers, registering four goals and three assists across his last six appearances.
His performances have increased the competition for a starting position on the left wing, which has traditionally been Vinicius' preferred position.
However, Mourinho has continued to defend the Brazilian despite the growing pressure.
Following Real Madrid's 3-2 victory over AEK Athens, the Portuguese manager reiterated his support for the forward, having previously acknowledged that Vinicius was not performing at his highest level.
The Real Madrid manager now faces a decision over how to accommodate his attacking options when Vinicius returns from suspension.
