According to a report by Football London on Monday, November 2, 2026, Chelsea have added Lewis-Skelly to their list of players they are monitoring as they assess their recruitment options for the second half of the season.
The Stamford Bridge side have already shown interest in Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott after failing to secure his signature during the summer transfer window. Chelsea remain keen on strengthening their midfield following Enzo Fernandez's departure, and Scott continues to be considered an option.
However, their transfer plans could extend beyond the Bournemouth midfielder, as Lewis-Skelly is also attracting attention from the club. The Arsenal youngster was previously linked with a possible switch to Chelsea, and the London side appear to have maintained their interest.
Journalist Simon Phillips disclosed the Blues' interest while speaking on Si Phillips Talks Chelsea, explaining that the club are monitoring the player's circumstances ahead of January. His ability to contribute in multiple positions is reportedly one of the qualities that make him appealing to Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso.
Lewis-Skelly can feature as a central midfielder or left-back, offering valuable flexibility to any team he represents. His versatility could help Chelsea address certain weaknesses while giving Alonso more tactical options and creating stronger competition within the squad.
Nevertheless, securing his services could prove challenging because Arsenal are unlikely to entertain his departure midway through the campaign. Mikel Arteta's team are competing for the Premier League title, making it difficult to imagine the manager allowing an important young player to join a direct domestic rival.
Furthermore, Lewis-Skelly's ability to cover different positions could become increasingly valuable as Arsenal navigate a busy schedule. Injuries, suspensions and fixture congestion may require Arteta to rely heavily on players capable of filling several roles.
Chelsea's interest reflects their determination to recruit young footballers with Premier League experience and the ability to adapt to different tactical demands. However, Arsenal's position could complicate negotiations, potentially forcing the Blues to consider alternative targets.
Although Lewis-Skelly would offer useful solutions in midfield and defence, a January transfer currently appears difficult to complete. Chelsea may therefore have to explore other opportunities as they continue planning improvements to their squad.
