Brighton & Hove Albion Women have confirmed on their Official Website their squad numbers for the 2025/26 Women’s Super League season, with Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie handed the prestigious No. 1 jersey, according to All Nigeria Soccer.

The shirt allocation strongly indicates that the 24-year-old, who joined the Seagulls on a free transfer from Paris FC in July, has been installed as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper.

Nnadozie arrives on the South Coast with an impressive résumé, having featured at the FIFA Women’s World Cup, Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), UEFA Women’s Champions League, and the Olympic Games. Her commanding presence between the posts is expected to provide much-needed stability for Brighton’s defensive setup.

The former Rivers Angels shot-stopper reported late for pre-season after being granted an extended break following her exploits at the 2025 WAFCON, where she was instrumental in Nigeria’s title triumph, keeping four clean sheets in the competition.

Should she make her debut against Aston Villa in Brighton’s league opener, Nnadozie will follow in the footsteps of her Super Falcons teammates Asisat Oshoala and Toni Payne, who have both previously featured in the WSL.

Her growing reputation has also been recognized globally, with the Nigerian star recently shortlisted for the Women’s Yachine Trophy, an award dedicated to the world’s best goalkeeper.
