Chelsea forward Morgan Rogers delivered an impressive display in Saturday’s 1-0 win over Manchester United, scoring the only goal of the match with a brilliant solo effort that demonstrated his quality and confidence in front of goal.
According to a report by Football London on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, the England international capitalised on United’s defensive vulnerability by driving into the penalty area before delicately lifting the ball over goalkeeper Senne Lammens to put Chelsea ahead.
The strike took Rogers’ season tally to six goals and four assists in all competitions. Since joining Chelsea from Aston Villa, the 24-year-old has made an impressive impact at Stamford Bridge, justifying the club’s decision to invest a reported record £117 million in his signing.
His performances were discussed by Jamie Carragher and former Everton defender Seamus Coleman during Monday Night Football, with Coleman drawing comparisons between Rogers and former Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli.
The former Everton captain believes the Chelsea attacker shares similarities with Alli, particularly in his ability to identify dangerous spaces and make intelligent attacking runs behind opposition defences.
All five of Rogers’ Premier League goals have come from relatively central positions, with his finishes taken from distances ranging between six and 20 yards. However, he has shown that he can score in different ways despite operating in similar areas.
Carragher highlighted the variety in his finishing, pointing to his left-footed goal against Hull, a right-footed volley against Arsenal and his recent individual effort against Manchester United. These examples, according to the former Liverpool defender, demonstrate Rogers’ technical ability and versatility in front of goal.
Coleman was particularly impressed by the youngster’s movement, explaining that his ability to find gaps between defensive lines reminded him of Alli during his successful spell at Tottenham.
The former Everton defender also warned that opposition full-backs and right-sided centre-backs must communicate effectively to prevent Rogers from exploiting spaces in their defensive structure.
Reflecting on the types of runs Alli regularly made during his Tottenham days, Coleman explained that Rogers possesses similar qualities that can make him difficult to contain.
Chelsea supporters will also remember Alli’s memorable brace against the Blues in January 2017, which ended their impressive 13-match winning run. Rogers is now displaying comparable attacking instincts, using intelligent movement and positional awareness to create problems for opposing defenders.
