According to a report by Barca Universal on Sunday October 25, 2026, Bayern Munich honorary president Uli Hoeness has sparked debate after claiming that Michael Olise is a better player than Barcelona wonderkid Lamine Yamal.

The Bayern chief expressed his admiration for the French winger during an interview with German newspaper Welt am Sonntag, praising his attacking qualities and predicting a bright future for the 24-year-old.

“Michael Olise is on his way to becoming the best player in the world. For me, he is better than Lamine Yamal,” Hoeness said.

He also highlighted the qualities that make the Bayern Munich star stand out, describing him as an exceptional attacker.

“He scores goals, provides assists, is fast… He is practically the perfect player,” he added.

Olise has continued to establish himself as an important figure at Bayern Munich since joining the German club from Crystal Palace. His technical ability, creativity and contributions in the final third have helped strengthen his reputation as one of Europe's exciting attacking talents.

His performances have also placed him in conversations surrounding the world's best wingers, with Hoeness clearly convinced that the French international has the potential to reach the highest level in football.

However, the comparison with Yamal is likely to attract attention among Barcelona supporters.

At just 19, the Spanish international has already become a key player for Barcelona under Hansi Flick. His dribbling, vision and ability to create chances have made him one of the most influential attacking players in the squad.

Yamal's importance extends beyond scoring goals and providing assists, as his ability to attract multiple defenders often creates space for his teammates. He has also taken on significant responsibilities for Spain despite his young age.

Although Hoeness has made his preference clear, determining which player is better remains a matter of opinion. Both wingers possess qualities that make them valuable to their respective teams, and their performances over time will continue to shape the debate.

The discussion comes at an important moment for Yamal, with Barcelona preparing to face Real Madrid in El Clasico. The teenager will be eager to deliver an impressive performance and help his team secure a crucial result against their biggest rivals.

Meanwhile, Olise will be looking to maintain his impressive development at Bayern Munich as he continues to establish himself among Europe's leading attackers.
