EPL: Peter Crouch Not Happy With Jordan Henderson’s Behaviour at Chelsea

According to a report by Football London on Thursday, October 15, 2026, Jordan Henderson produced an impressive display for Chelsea in their 5-1 victory over Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge, scoring twice and contributing to the team’s dominant performance. However, former Liverpool striker Peter Crouch took issue with the midfielder’s decision to grab the Chelsea badge during his goal celebration.

Henderson made an immediate impact, opening the scoring just 66 seconds into the match after converting a pass from Cole Palmer into the far corner. The experienced midfielder continued to influence the game by providing an assist for Morgan Rogers shortly afterwards.

He completed his memorable home debut by scoring Chelsea’s fifth goal with a superbly curled free-kick. Palmer reportedly allowed Henderson to take the set piece after witnessing his impressive technique during training sessions.

Before the free-kick, Palmer asked Henderson which corner flag he wanted to celebrate beside. After the midfielder found the net, the pair ran towards the corner and celebrated enthusiastically in front of the home supporters.

Despite praising Henderson’s performance, Crouch questioned the symbolism of his celebration. Speaking on the That Peter Crouch Podcast, the former Liverpool striker jokingly advised his former colleague to avoid repeating the gesture.

“Really pleased for Jordan. There was something about, or an element of, touching the badge. I'm going to let him off now, because I know him and I like him, but maybe don't do that again,” Crouch said.

Crouch also acknowledged Henderson’s free-kick ability, noting the midfielder’s capacity to reproduce the technique he had demonstrated during Chelsea’s training sessions.

Henderson remains closely associated with Liverpool, where he served as captain and helped the club win the Premier League title after a 30-year wait. He also lifted the Champions League trophy before leaving Anfield in 2023.

Following spells away from English football, Henderson has now joined Chelsea, bringing considerable experience, leadership and technical quality to the squad. His performance against Bournemouth offered an encouraging indication that he can still influence matches at the highest level.

However, his Liverpool connections could attract additional attention as Chelsea prepare for future fixtures against his former club. The midfielder will need to balance his past achievements with his responsibilities at Stamford Bridge as he seeks to help his new team enjoy a successful campaign.

His two goals and assist against Bournemouth have provided an early boost, while Crouch’s playful criticism has added another talking point to an otherwise impressive Chelsea performance.
