According to a report by Football London on Thursday, October 15, 2026, Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso could sanction the departure of four players as the club explores ways to raise funds for a possible January move for Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott.
The Blues remain keen on signing the England international after failing to reach an agreement with Bournemouth during the summer transfer window. Chelsea reportedly submitted three bids for the 23-year-old, including an offer worth £68 million, but the Cherries turned down all their approaches.
However, Bournemouth could be willing to reconsider their stance in January if Chelsea present an offer close to £100 million. The midfielder's future could also depend on Bournemouth's position in the Premier League, as the club may be reluctant to lose one of its key players if it is fighting to avoid relegation.
To finance the potential deal, Chelsea may have to sell players who are no longer considered essential to Alonso's plans. Alejandro Garnacho, Jamie Gittens, Benoit Badiashile and Robert Sanchez have reportedly been identified as possible departures.
Garnacho spent one season at Stamford Bridge, scoring eight goals in 43 appearances across all competitions before joining Aston Villa on loan. His temporary spell could turn into a permanent transfer next summer if the necessary conditions are fulfilled. The agreement reportedly contains an obligation-to-buy clause worth £42.5 million, which could provide Chelsea with significant funds to pursue Scott.
Gittens, meanwhile, joined Chelsea from Borussia Dortmund last summer for an initial fee of £48.5 million but has struggled to deliver consistent performances. The winger has managed just one goal in 27 appearances across all competitions. With Cole Palmer, Morgan Rogers, Pedro Neto and Estevao also competing for attacking positions, his opportunities under Alonso could become increasingly limited. Transfermarkt reportedly estimates his current market value at £22 million.
Badiashile is another player whose future at Chelsea remains uncertain after joining Napoli on loan for the remainder of the season. The Italian club reportedly has the option to sign the French defender permanently for £23 million. Despite making 71 appearances for Chelsea, Badiashile has found it difficult to secure a regular starting position, increasing the possibility of a permanent departure.
Goalkeeper Sanchez could also leave following his deadline-day loan move to Como. Chelsea reportedly signed Emiliano Martinez from Aston Villa, while Mike Penders remains part of the club's long-term plans. Sanchez has struggled to secure regular playing time in Italy, where he has served as backup to Jean Butez. Transfermarkt reportedly values the goalkeeper at £13 million.
Selling some of these players could help Chelsea improve their financial position and prepare another bid for Scott when the January transfer window opens. Nevertheless, the club's chances of completing the deal will depend on Bournemouth's asking price and whether the Blues can raise enough money without significantly weakening their squad.
