According to a Post by Fabrizio Romano on his X account on Saturday, October 31, 2026, Real Madrid manager José Mourinho has expressed his excitement about the return of Vinicius Junior, insisting that the Brazilian forward remains an important member of his squad despite his recent suspension.

Mourinho made the remarks while discussing the winger's absence following a disciplinary sanction that has kept him out of domestic league action. The Portuguese tactician made it clear that he values Vinicius highly and is looking forward to having him available again.

“I can’t wait for Vini Jr to be back from the sanction because I love him, I need him,” Mourinho said.

The coach's comments underline the importance of the Brazilian international to Real Madrid's attacking plans, particularly as the club continues to navigate a demanding season involving domestic and European competitions.

Vinicius has endured a challenging period in Spain, facing criticism over his performances and coming under increased scrutiny from supporters and football analysts. However, Mourinho has consistently defended the forward, highlighting his character, commitment and determination to overcome difficult moments.

The Brazilian's recent disciplinary problems followed his dismissal during Real Madrid's LaLiga encounter against Villarreal. He received a four-match domestic suspension after being sent off for pulling an opponent's hair and subsequently protesting against the referee's decision.

Mourinho's support for Vinicius has been evident throughout the season. Earlier in October, the former Chelsea, Manchester United and Roma manager defended the attacker amid criticism over his form, explaining that dropping a struggling player does not always help restore confidence.

The Real Madrid manager also acknowledged that Vinicius was working extremely hard to rediscover the level that made him one of the most dangerous attackers in world football.

During a press conference on October 17, Mourinho praised the Brazilian's mental strength, saying he admired his ability to continue smiling and performing despite the criticism he regularly receives.

The Portuguese manager also suggested that he might have considered leaving Spain if he were in Vinicius' position, but acknowledged that the forward's affection for Real Madrid and the city had influenced his decision to remain at the club.

Vinicius previously played a decisive role in Real Madrid's Champions League triumphs and has established himself as one of the club's most influential attacking players. His pace, dribbling ability, creativity and capacity to trouble opposing defenders make him a valuable option for Mourinho.

His absence from LaLiga fixtures has therefore presented the manager with another selection challenge, although the Brazilian remains an important part of the club's plans.

Mourinho will be hoping that Vinicius returns with renewed confidence and determination, particularly with Real Madrid facing important fixtures across multiple competitions.
