EPL Table After Manchester United Drew 1-1

According to The Guardian on Sunday, October 18, 2026, Manchester United suffered another setback in their Premier League campaign after being held to a 1-1 draw by Leeds United at Elland Road. The result prevented Michael Carrick’s side from collecting a much-needed victory as they continue to struggle for consistency in the opening stages of the season.

United travelled to Leeds hoping to improve their recent form, but their inability to protect a first-half lead once again proved costly. Despite taking control of the scoreline before the break, the visitors failed to maintain their advantage after the hosts responded early in the second half.

Bryan Mbeumo opened the scoring for Manchester United in the 35th minute, finishing a cross from Youri Tielemans to give the visitors the lead. The goal raised hopes that Carrick’s men could secure their second Premier League win of the campaign and ease some of the pressure surrounding their performances.

Leeds, however, returned from the interval with greater determination and found an equaliser six minutes into the second half. Dominic Calvert-Lewin capitalised on a defensive mistake to bring the home side back into the contest in the 51st minute. Both teams pushed for a decisive goal afterwards, but neither managed to find a winner before the final whistle.

The stalemate leaves Manchester United with seven points from seven matches, having recorded one victory, four draws and two defeats. Their position in the lower half of the Premier League table reflects a disappointing start to the campaign, with Carrick facing increasing pressure to deliver better results.

Leeds United, meanwhile, moved to 10 points from seven games following their hard-earned draw. The result will provide encouragement for the newly promoted side, who demonstrated their ability to recover from a deficit and compete against one of English football’s biggest clubs.

Elsewhere, Manchester City maintained their position at the top of the standings with a 3-2 victory over Ipswich Town on Saturday. Brighton also enjoyed an impressive weekend, defeating Crystal Palace 5-0 to take their points tally to 16. Chelsea recorded a 2-0 win against Everton, while Liverpool came from behind to beat Brentford 2-1.

Arsenal are also scheduled to face Nottingham Forest later on Sunday, with the outcome expected to influence the standings near the top of the table.

Manchester United will now prepare for their next Premier League assignment against Bournemouth on October 25. Carrick must find a way to improve his side’s consistency and ensure they make better use of their scoring opportunities if they are to climb the standings.

For United, the draw at Elland Road represents another frustrating result in a campaign that has yet to gather momentum. Their next fixture will provide an opportunity to respond, but the pressure to turn draws into victories continues to grow.
