Jack Wilshere Admits One Arsenal Teammate Used to Make Him Feel Nervous

According to a report by The Sun on Saturday October 17, 2026, Former Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor was the one who made Jack Wilshere anxious when they were both playing for the first team, according to Wilshere.

After making his Premier League debut in 2008 at the tender age of sixteen, Wilshere quickly rose to prominence as one of Arsenal's most promising young players. His remarkable technical ability brought him immediate attention, much like Cesc Fabregas did before him.

Unfortunately, he was never able to realize his full potential due to a string of injuries that derailed his career. After calling it quits at the age of 30, he went into coaching and eventually became the League One manager of Luton Town.

While appearing on the YouTube series Truth or Padel, Wilshere was asked by journalist David Ornstein of The Athletic to name the most obnoxious teammate he had played with while at Arsenal.

The former midfielder named Adebayor right away, saying that Wilshere had a hard time getting a handle on the veteran striker due to his brash personality while he was still breaking into the first team.

Wilshere confessed, "I'm going to say Adebayor." When I first began playing with him, I was quite little. He had a way of making me feel anxious, even though I was quite self-assured.

"I was never able to figure him out, like whether he liked me or not," he went on to say. Yeah, I'm going to go with him.

When Wilshere started to make an impression, Adebayor was in the midst of a phenomenal run. Even though Arsenal didn't win the Premier League that season, the Togolese forward had a fantastic season scoring 30 goals in all competitions.

When Arsenal and Birmingham City were tied, they had a five-point lead, but their challenge collapsed. Regardless, the team had become entertaining to watch thanks to Adebayor's goals and Fabregas' increasing impact.

In 142 games for Arsenal, the striker scored 62 goals, including 46 in the Premier League. In 2009, he left for Manchester City in a £25 million deal.

He lost the support of Arsenal fans when he left. In front of the traveling fans, Adebayor famously dashed across the field to celebrate after scoring for City against his previous club.

His relationship with Arsenal fans deteriorated even further after he joined Tottenham, first on loan in 2011 and then permanently the following year.
