According to a report by GOAL on Saturday October 31, 2026, Arsenal and Newcastle United are interested in signing Brazilian youngster Eduardo Pape, but they face competition from German giants Bayern Munich for the highly rated midfielder.
The 17-year-old currently plays for Cruzeiro's youth teams and has attracted attention from several top European clubs despite not yet making his senior debut.
According to reports, Arsenal and Newcastle are closely monitoring Pape's development as they consider a potential move for the teenager.
Bayern Munich are also keeping a close eye on the Brazilian, having reportedly sent a scout to watch him during the UEFA Friendship Cup Under-18 tournament in Switzerland earlier this month.
Pape has impressed at both Under-17 and Under-18 levels for Cruzeiro, with his performances earning him comparisons with Manchester City midfielder Rodri and former Barcelona star Sergio Busquets.
Scouts have reportedly been impressed by his positional awareness, ability to control the tempo of matches and understanding of the defensive midfield role.
Cruzeiro currently hold the majority of his economic rights and have protected his future by handing him a contract that runs until 2029.
The agreement reportedly includes a €100 million (£83.3m) release clause for foreign clubs. However, the Brazilian side could be willing to accept an offer in the region of €40 million (£33.3m).
Apart from Arsenal, Newcastle and Bayern Munich, several other European clubs have also been linked with the teenager.
Manchester City, Chelsea and Bournemouth reportedly monitored his performances at the South American Under-17 Championship earlier this year.
Spanish giants Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Villarreal, alongside French club Monaco, have also been credited with an interest in the midfielder.
However, no formal bids have been submitted, with the interested clubs continuing to monitor his progress.
Arsenal and Newcastle will also have to wait before they can bring the youngster to England because of post-Brexit transfer regulations, which prevent Premier League clubs from signing overseas players under the age of 18.
Pape will turn 18 in March 2027, meaning he cannot complete a move to an English club until the following summer transfer window.
Cruzeiro are therefore expected to keep him at the club in the coming months as he continues his development and works towards breaking into the senior team.
With several European heavyweights following his progress, Pape could become one of the most closely watched young midfielders ahead of the 2027 summer transfer window.
