According to a report by BBC Sport on Saturday, October 31, 2026, Everton held Manchester United to a 0-0 draw at Goodison Park, ending the visitors' hopes of extending their winning run in the Women's Super League.
United came into the encounter in good form, having gone nine matches without defeat in all competitions. However, Eva Olid's side struggled to break down a well-organised Everton defence and failed to find the breakthrough throughout the 90 minutes.
The visitors have shown impressive attacking form in the League Cup, scoring 22 goals in four matches, although three of those fixtures were against lower-league opposition. Their performances in the WSL have been less convincing, with only nine goals scored in their opening seven league matches.
Everton made life difficult for United through their organised defensive approach, combining an effective pressing system with a high defensive line to restrict the visitors' attacking opportunities.
The hosts also created chances of their own, with Ornella Vignola missing two decent opportunities after finding herself in promising positions. On both occasions, the Everton forward directed her efforts straight at Manchester United goalkeeper Phallon Tullis-Joyce.
United struggled to produce a consistent attacking threat, although they came close to snatching all three points during the closing stages. With 15 minutes remaining, Jess Park played a through ball into the path of Norway international Elisabeth Terland, who attempted to put the visitors ahead.
However, Everton goalkeeper Courtney Brosnan produced an excellent save to deny the striker and preserve her team's clean sheet. At the other end, Everton's recalled Dutch striker Rosa van Gool struggled to make an impact, spending much of the contest isolated as the home side also failed to create enough opportunities in the final third.
The stalemate extended Manchester United's unbeaten run to 10 matches in all competitions but represented another disappointing attacking display in the league.
United now have 12 points from their opening eight WSL matches, their lowest-ever total at this stage of a season. Olid's team are also four points behind third-placed London City Lionesses, who currently occupy the final Champions League qualification position.
Everton, meanwhile, secured another clean sheet under Scott Phelan, whose defensive organisation has made them difficult opponents since he took charge in January.
