Alan Shearer has backed Chelsea to beat Tottenham Hotspur in their Premier League encounter at Stamford Bridge, while predicting victories for Arsenal and Manchester City in this weekend's fixtures.
According to a report by Metro on Friday, 23 October 2026, the former England striker shared his predictions for the latest round of Premier League matches, highlighting several important fixtures involving clubs competing at the top and bottom of the table.
Shearer believes Chelsea's recent improvement under Xabi Alonso could help them secure three points against Tottenham.
He credited midfielder Moises Caicedo with making a significant difference to the team's performances, particularly alongside Jordan Henderson in midfield.
"I was impressed with Caicedo. Chelsea are looking a more well-rounded team and I think Caicedo’s played a huge part in that, he’s made the difference," Shearer said.
He added that Tottenham had not been particularly convincing despite recent positive results, leading him to predict a home victory for Chelsea.
"Spurs did all right. Great to see Maddison back and scoring a goal. Kulusevski came back in for the last few minutes, got a good reception. I still didn’t think they played great, despite getting a good result. So, I’m going to go Chelsea home win."
For Arsenal's meeting with Everton, Shearer expects the visitors to adopt a defensive approach and attempt to frustrate Mikel Arteta's side.
However, he believes Arsenal have enough quality to secure victory despite concerns over Bukayo Saka's fitness following an apparent thigh injury.
Shearer also tipped Manchester City to beat Aston Villa, acknowledging Unai Emery's impressive work while backing Pep Guardiola's side to have enough quality to claim the points.
Meanwhile, he predicted a draw between Liverpool and Brighton, pointing to Brighton's attacking quality and Liverpool's defensive uncertainty.
He also expects Manchester United to share the points with Bournemouth, a result he believes would do little to ease the pressure on manager Michael Carrick.
Elsewhere, Shearer backed Newcastle United to beat Crystal Palace, Brentford to overcome Hull City and Leeds United to defeat Sunderland. He predicted draws in the Ipswich versus Nottingham Forest and Coventry versus Fulham fixtures.
