Barcelona forced to wear last season’s orange kit for Champions League clash vs PSG

According to a report by Barca Universal on Tuesday October 20, 2026, Barcelona have been forced to bring back last season’s orange kit for their Champions League clash against Paris Saint-Germain after UEFA reportedly ruled that none of their three current kits could be used for the encounter.

According to reports, the decision was driven by television broadcasting requirements, with UEFA seeking to ensure a clear visual distinction between the two teams during Tuesday night’s meeting at the Parc des Princes.

Barcelona had hoped to use one of their current-season strips, but their traditional blue-and-red home kit, black-and-purple second kit and electric-blue third kit were reportedly all rejected for the fixture.

The decision means Hansi Flick’s side will instead wear last season’s orange Nike Total 90 shirt, a design inspired by football fashion from the early 2000s.

Barcelona have already used the orange strip during pre-season, including in a friendly against Basel. However, its return for a major European fixture is an unusual development for a club that has three kits available for the current campaign.

The club had trained in their blue training kit on Monday, raising expectations that the electric-blue third strip could be used against the French champions. The reported ruling has now forced a change of plans ahead of the highly anticipated encounter.

Barcelona’s promotional material for the match has also featured players including Lamine Yamal and Pedri wearing the orange shirt, suggesting the club has prepared for the alternative kit arrangement.

Despite the unusual circumstances, Barcelona will be focused on extending their winning run and maintaining their strong start to the season. Facing PSG away from home presents a major test for Flick’s team, regardless of the colour of their shirts.

The return of the orange kit is therefore an unexpected talking point before a fixture that promises plenty of action on the pitch. Barcelona will hope the change brings no distraction as they attempt to secure another important Champions League result.
