'If I start thinking about leaving, it's the end for me' - Fabregas shuts down Como exit rumours

According to a report by GOAL on Saturday, October 24, 2026, Cesc Fabregas has insisted that he has no intention of leaving Como, dismissing speculation about his future as he continues to build his managerial career in Italy.

The former Arsenal and Barcelona midfielder has earned growing recognition for his work with the Serie A side, with Como’s progress attracting attention across European football. Despite the interest his achievements may generate, Fabregas remains committed to the club’s long-term project.

Speaking ahead of Como’s league meeting with Sassuolo, the 39-year-old was questioned about his future and whether the club might eventually need to plan for his departure.

Fabregas made his position clear, explaining that he has never considered walking away from the role.

“I’ve never thought about leaving. If I started thinking about it, maybe that would be the end for me here, but I’ve never done it,” he said, as quoted by Sky Sport Italia.

His response reflects his desire to concentrate on developing Como rather than allow rumours about potential opportunities elsewhere to distract him.

Fabregas has been instrumental in the club’s progress, helping establish them as an ambitious outfit in Italian football. His tactical ideas and work with emerging talents have also contributed to his growing reputation as one of the promising young managers in the game.

Ahead of the Sassuolo fixture, he also had positive words for their manager, Alberto Aquilani, praising his footballing philosophy, bravery and approach to coaching.

The Como boss revealed that their relationship goes beyond their professional responsibilities. He recalled that Aquilani contacted him last summer regarding the possibility of signing young midfielder Rispoli, adding that he had no concerns about the player joining a coach he respected.

Fabregas also highlighted Nico Paz’s mentality, expressing admiration for the youngster’s maturity and ability to deal with the demands of professional football. He suggested that the midfielder does not need constant motivation to maintain his standards.

Meanwhile, Como have some fitness concerns ahead of the Sassuolo encounter. Assane Diao and Moise Kean are expected to miss the match, while Martin Liberali is also unlikely to be available, although his injury is not believed to be serious.

For now, Fabregas’ attention remains firmly on the upcoming fixture and the continued development of Como. His latest comments suggest that, despite the growing attention surrounding his managerial progress, he has no plans to abandon the project he has started in Italy.
