Antonio Conte Makes Official Statement Amid Man Utd Rumours

Antonio Conte has denied being in advanced negotiations with Manchester United, insisting that speculation about his managerial future and reported demands remains unfounded.

According to a report by FootballTransfers on Friday, 23 October 2026, the Italian manager issued an official statement amid growing links with the Old Trafford job, as pressure mounts on Michael Carrick following Manchester United’s disappointing run of results.

The 57-year-old has reportedly emerged as a potential replacement for Carrick, with suggestions that he has been in direct contact with the club’s hierarchy. However, Conte has dismissed claims that negotiations have progressed significantly or that he has already presented demands ahead of a possible appointment.

“Following recent media reports in Italy, I feel it is appropriate to clarify my position,” Conte posted on his Instagram account.

“My name has been linked with numerous clubs, but there are currently no negotiations at an advanced stage.

“Following a wonderful and successful spell in charge of Napoli, I will take the time I need to consider how and when to return to management. It will be a carefully considered decision, one I will make when I believe the conditions are right.

“I have read reports of financial demands and requests for full control that I have supposedly already made to the clubs mentioned, as well as reservations about what has been described as my ‘strong personality’. These reports are unfounded, as there is currently no concrete basis for such assessments.

“Should a concrete opportunity arise, that will be the time to hold discussions with the club concerned and jointly consider the terms of a potential agreement, with due regard for both parties’ needs and the qualities and approach that define my work as a manager.

“Until then, any assumptions about my demands and my professional future remain speculation and cannot be treated as fact.”

Despite the clarification, Conte remains among the managers reportedly being considered by Manchester United should the club decide to part ways with Carrick.

The Red Devils boss is under increasing pressure following a 4-1 defeat to Como in the Champions League on Wednesday. The result extended United’s winless run to seven matches across all competitions.

Reports indicate that the club’s hierarchy continues to support Carrick for now, although the outcome of Sunday’s Premier League fixture against Bournemouth could influence the situation.

Conte is not the only manager linked with the position, with Fabian Hurzeler, Julian Nagelsmann and Eddie Howe also reportedly among the potential candidates.
