According to a post on its official Facebook account on Sunday November 1, 2026, Real Madrid celebrated Thibaut Courtois reaching 346 appearances for the club by sharing a photograph of the goalkeeper holding a customised shirt bearing the number of matches he has played.
The club posted the image on Facebook on Sunday, November 1, 2026, after Courtois matched Miguel Ángel’s appearance total to become the third goalkeeper with the most games for Real Madrid.
The club’s message read: “🧤 Courtois matches Miguel Ángel as the third goalkeeper with the most appearances for Real Madrid C.F.: 346.”
The Belgian reached the milestone in Real Madrid’s 3–0 victory over Racing de Santander at El Sardinero.
The clean-sheet win marked his 346th appearance for the Spanish side and drew him level with former goalkeeper Miguel Ángel.
Courtois also captained Real Madrid for the match, with Federico Valverde and Vinícius Júnior absent from the starting lineup. His milestone came as the team continued its run of victories.
The goalkeeper now sits third among Real Madrid’s most-used goalkeepers, behind Paco Buyo, who made 454 appearances, and Iker Casillas, the club’s record holder with 725.
Courtois’s total places him alongside another prominent figure in the club’s history and reflects his sustained role between the posts since joining the team.
The customized black jersey in the photograph featured the number 346, marking the appearance tally the club was celebrating.
The post highlighted the achievement and recognized Courtois’s place in Real Madrid’s goalkeeping history.
Courtois joined Real Madrid in 2018 after previously playing for Chelsea and Atlético Madrid. Since then, he has been a key figure in the team, regularly starting in domestic and European competitions.
His appearances have included major matches in La Liga and the UEFA Champions League.
The 346-game milestone brings him level with Miguel Ángel, who played for Real Madrid for more than a decade and was part of the club’s goalkeeping history in the 1960s and 1970s.
Courtois’s achievement places him among the small group of goalkeepers to have made a substantial number of appearances for the club.
