Joao Pedro confirms Chelsea stance amid Arsenal transfer interest

According to a report by Football Transfers on Monday, October 26, 2026, Chelsea forward João Pedro has expressed his satisfaction with life at Stamford Bridge despite attracting transfer interest from Arsenal and Barcelona.

The 25-year-old Brazilian emerged as a target for both clubs during the summer transfer window as they explored ways to strengthen their respective attacks. Nevertheless, Chelsea reportedly resisted their advances and reached an agreement with the striker over a contract extension in August.

Arsenal identified João Pedro as a potential addition to Mikel Arteta's forward line, while Barcelona considered bringing him in as a long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski. However, neither side managed to persuade Chelsea to part with the Brazilian, and his latest remarks suggest that he has no immediate desire to leave the London club.

In an interview with ESPN, João Pedro explained that the backing he has received from Chelsea head coach Xabi Alonso has been crucial to his development and performances this season.

"At Chelsea I feel very comfortable," he stated, making it clear that the manager's confidence in him has helped him perform at a high level.

The Brazilian enjoyed a productive debut season with Chelsea, scoring 20 goals across 50 appearances. He has carried that momentum into the 2026/27 campaign, having already scored five goals in seven appearances, according to FootballTransfers.

Following Enzo Maresca's departure, João Pedro has become Chelsea's leading option at centre-forward. His performances suggest that he is comfortable with the responsibility and is enjoying his position in Alonso's squad.

Beyond the manager's influence, the striker also praised his teammates for helping him settle into life at Stamford Bridge. He particularly acknowledged Cole Palmer's contribution, explaining that the England international played a part in making him feel welcome at the club.

João Pedro further noted that the positive relationships within the squad had helped him adapt quickly. He believes the friendships he has developed with his teammates have contributed to his confidence and effectiveness during matches.

The developments could be frustrating for Arsenal, who reportedly viewed João Pedro as a valuable addition to their attacking options. Chelsea's reluctance to sell, coupled with the player's apparent happiness at the club, could make it challenging for Arteta's side to revive their interest.

Barcelona may also have to reconsider their pursuit of the forward. Their interest reflects João Pedro's increasing standing among Europe's top attacking talents, particularly because of his ability to find the net and combine productively with his teammates in the final third.
