According to a report by Barca Universal on Thursday, November 5, 2026, seven players from Barcelona’s renowned La Masia academy have been selected to represent Spain at the upcoming FIFA U17 World Cup in Qatar.
Spain’s head coach, David Cubillo, has included Raul Exposito, Sergi Mayans, Baba Kourouma, Jordi Pesquer, Ebrima Tunkara, Roberto Tomas and Iu Martinez in his final squad for the tournament.
The selection highlights La Masia’s continued contribution to Spanish youth football, with the seven teenagers set to compete against some of the best emerging talents from around the world.
Four of Barcelona’s representatives are defenders: Exposito, Mayans, Kourouma and Pesquer. The latter has already gained some exposure to the senior setup after taking part in the club’s pre-season preparations earlier this year.
Tunkara and Tomas will provide the midfield representation, while Martinez has been selected as the only forward from Barcelona’s academy.
Tunkara’s inclusion is particularly encouraging for the Catalan club, as the youngster has regularly been invited to train with the first team, reflecting the progress he has made in his development.
The Spanish Football Federation confirmed that the selected players will assemble at the national team’s training base in Madrid on November 9 before heading to Qatar for the competition.
Their participation will leave Barcelona without seven promising youngsters for the duration of the tournament, affecting the club’s youth and reserve sides.
Spain have been placed in Group H, where they will face Morocco, Fiji and China in the group stage.
The team will be aiming to make history by securing Spain’s first-ever FIFA U17 World Cup title, having never won the competition despite their achievements at other international levels.
For Barcelona, the presence of seven academy graduates in the Spanish squad further underlines La Masia’s reputation as an important source of young talent for both club and country.
